Los Angeles, CA — South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, fresh on the heels of the phenomenal success of the Broadway musical parody The Book of Mormon, announced late last week that they’re working on a fictional stage adaption of an internal civil war gone awry. Tentatively titled Jade Helm 2020: The Musical, the pair says it will be based in a “future version of Texas” where an out of control military under the command of Hillary Clinton and George Soros.




The Jade Helm 15 United States military training exercise took place in multiple U.S. states in the summer of 2015, starting on July 15 and ending on September 15. The announcements of these training exercises raised concerns and led to speculative interpretations by stupid people who were characterized by The New York Times as “travers[ing] the outer edges of political paranoia.”

At the time, right-wing conspiracy groups convinced themselves that these exercises were a “practice run’ by then President Obama for martial law. When those theories didn’t bear fruit, these ‘patriots’ abandoned this cause and focused their attention on the more immediate dangers of ISIS training camps, FEMA re-education centers, and of course, the global Chemtrail conspiracy. This is where Trey and Matt pick up the story.

Parody to Change Minds

“We want to do a musical than has some bite to it,” said Mr. Stone speaking for Entertainment Weekly out in front of the Irvine, CA In-n-Out Burger. “But we also want laughs, you know? Pulling off Jade Helm on the stage is really going to be tough. Tougher than the puppets in Team America [World Police],” referring to the 2004 film which featured puppetry instead of live actors.

Pushing people’s buttons is not something the pair shy away from. For Jade Helm 2020, they hope to trigger people’s fears about Hillary Clinton and other elderly ‘bad actors’ in the mind of many on the Right.




“Yeah, normally we play it up the middle,” continued Mr. Stone, “but this time we’re going after the alt-right and their stupidity. We’ve given them more than enough time to correct their ways, and they haven’t done it. So we’re gonna let them have it.”

Both Trey and Matt say they hope to have the musical done by the Summer of 2020, but it may be delayed depending on what happens during the upcoming election cycle.
