James, As a Southerner with an open mind and ability to think rationally, I challenge you to read SLAVERY BY ANOTHER NAME by Douglas A. BLACKMON. I am a white woman who was born in Alabama in 1953 and I never learned this history of Alabama and Georgia from the aftermath of the Civil War until WWII. It was horrifying and shameful, very hard to read and take in, but explains many things about the way many Southerners still think and act today. And explains why for very good reason, African Americans do not trust law enforcement.
